What is Faith?

Faith is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for, and believe in, is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it ahead.

Hebrews 11:1,6

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

But without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

We can never please God without faith, without depending on Him. Anyone who wants to come to God must believe that He is there,  and He rewards those who diligently seek Him.

Romans 10:17

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Faith comes by listening to the word of God – hearing about  how much God loves and cares for us. About His Creative power, His Sustaining power, and His Redemptive power to save us, and His long-suffering (patience) with the children of men.

Also hearing and believing the good news of salvation, about Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Jesus died for our sins, rose from the dead, and will some day soon return to receive those who have accepted Him as their Saviour and Lord. God will give eternal life to all those who accept Jesus as their Saviour.

John 17:3

Jesus said, ” And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”

 

Psalms 40:11

Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O Lord; let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me.

Be pleased, O Lord to deliver me; O Lord, make haste to help me.

Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; let those who love Your salvation say continually, “The Lord be magnified.”

Psalms 54:2

Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.

Psalms 19:14

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

Psalms 4:1

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress, have mercy on me and hear my prayer.

Psalms 5:3

My voice You will hear in the morning, O Lord, in the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up.

Psalms 55:16-1

As for me, I will call upon God, and the Lord shall save me.

Evening and morning and at noon, I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice.

I will call upon the Lord to save me – and he will. I will pray morning, noon and night, pleading with God in my distress and He will hear and answer.

 

 

Psalms 37:8

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do no fret or worry – it only causes harm.

 

Hebrews 7:25

Therefore, Jesus is also able to save forever those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

Jesus is able to save completely all those who come to God through Him, because He is alive forevermore. He also shed His precious blood on Calvary’s cross to save us. So He will always be making intercession and advocating on our behalf.

Isaiah 66:22-23

“For as the new heavens and new earth, which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the Lord, “so shall your descendants and your name remain.

And it shall come to pass that from one New moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, all flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord.

As surely as My new heavens and earth shall remain, so surely shall you always be My people, with a name that shall never disappear.

All mankind shall come to worship the Lord God from week to week and month to month.

 

Matthew 22:37

Jesus said, ” You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.

Deuteronomy 7:9

Therefore, know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, Who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.

Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is the faithful God, Who for a thousand generations keeps His promises and constantly love those who love Him and who keep His commandments.

2 Samuel 22:2-4

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer.

The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; my Saviour, You save me from violence.

I will call upon the Lord, Who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.

God is my rock, my fortress and my Saviour.

I will hide in God, Who is my rock and my refuge, He is my shield, and my salvation, my refuge and high tower.

Thank you, O my Saviour, for saving me from all my enemies.

I will call upon the Lord, Who is worthy to be praised; He will save me from all my enemies.

 

1 Chronicles 16:34

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercies endures forever. And say, “Save us, O God of our salvation.”

Acts 2:21

Whosoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
