John 16:33

Jesus said, ” These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

Devotion.

Jesus’ words should encourage us and give us confidence in Him, because He tells us beforehand what will happen in this sinful and corrupt world.

Jesus said, that we will have trouble, trials and problem in this world, but we should be discouraged because He has overcome the world, and we will also, as long as we hold on to Jesus, our Saviour.

Prayer.

Eternal Father,

Thank You for Your Holy Scriptures that encourages me, gives me strength for today and hope for tomorrow.

And Your Holy Word is ” a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” to show me the way that leads to life eternal through Jesus Christ, my Saviour.

Lord, You know the trials, the troubles, problems, the tribulation that we face in this corrupt world, and so I bring everything to You and ask for Your help – Your intervention in my situation.

Lord Jesus, I will hold on to You and never let go, because You have been victorious over sin and the arch-enemy, so if I hold on to You, I will be victorious as well.

Thank You Your peace that You give to me in this troubled world.

Lord Jesus, please help me to endure to the end in my Christian journey, and keep pressing on to glory, looking to You, the Author and Finisher (developer) of my faith.

I will be of good cheer and rejoice in the God of my salvation.

I love, praise, glorify and exalt You.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Hymn.

Be still, my soul; the Lord is on thy side.

Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.

Leave to Thy God to order and provide.

In every change He faithful will remain.

Be still, my soul; thy best, thy Heavenly Friend.

Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

2.

Be still, my soul; thy God doth undertake.

To guide the future as He has the past.

Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake.

All now mysterious shall be bright at last.

Be still, my soul; the waves and winds still know.

His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below.

3.

Be still, my soul; the hour is hastening on.

When we shall be forever with the Lord.

When disappointment, grief and fear are gone.

Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.

Be still, my soul; when change and fears are past.

All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

Praise the Lord!
