John 18:

After Jesus was betrayed by Judas (for thirty pieces of silver) he led the chief priests and Pharisees to where Jesus was. They arrested Jesus, and took Him first to Caiaphas the High Priest, who sent Him to the palace of Pilate (the Governor of Rome) to be tried.

John 19

Then Pilate took Jesus and whipped Him, and the soldiers made a crown of thorns and placed it on His head, and they put a purple robe on Him.

Then they said, “Hail, King of the Jews!”  and they struck Him with their hands.

After Pilate had talked with Jesus, He realized that Jesus was not guilty of anything.

Pilate went outside again and said to the Jews, “I am going to bring Him out to you, but understand clearly that I find no fault in Him. He is not guilty of anything.

Then Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, and Pilate said to them, “Behold the Man.”

At the sight of Jesus the chief priests and Jewish officials began yelling, “Crucify Him, Crucify Him!”

Pilate said to them “you crucify Him, for I find no fault in Him.

They replied ” by our laws He should die, because He calls Himself the Son of God.”.

When Pilate heard this, he became very frightened, so he  took Jesus back into the palace again and asked Him. “Where are you from?”  But Jesus gave no answer.

“You won’t talk to me?” Pilate demanded. “Don’t You realize that I have the power to release You or to crucify You.”

Then Jesus said, “You could have no power at all against Me unless it were given to you from above, so those who brought Me to you have the greater sin.”

Then Pilate tried to release Him, but the Jewish leaders told Him, “If you release this man, you are no friend of Caesar’s. Anyone who declares himself a king is a rebel against Caesar.”

When Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out to them again and sat down at the judgement seat on the stone paved platform, a place called “the pavement”.

It was the preparation day of the Passover, about the sixth hour, and Pilate said to the Jews. “Behold your King.”

But they cried out, “away with Him, Crucify Him! Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your king? The chief priests answered, “we have no King, but Caesar.”

Then Pilate delivered Jesus to them to be crucified, so they took Jesus and led Him away.

And He was taken out of the city, carrying His cross to a place called The Place of a Skull, in Hebrew “Golgotha”.

There they crucified Him, and two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the center.

And Pilate posted a sign over Him reading, “JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

The place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and the signboard was written in Hebrew, Latin and Greek, so that many people could read it

Then the chief priests said to Pilate, “change it from ” The King of the Jews” to “He said, I am King of the Jews.”

Pilate replied, “What I have written, I have written, it stays exactly as it is.”
