Psalms 50:15

The Lord says, “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you and you shall glorify Me.”

God invites us to present to Him our perplexities and necessities, and our need of divine help.

He bids us to be instant in prayer. As soon as difficulties arise, we are to offer to Him our sincere, earnest petitions.

By our importunate prayers, we give evidence of our confidence in God.

The sense of our need leads us to pray earnestly, and our heavenly Father is moved by our supplications. (Col. 172.2)

Importunate petitions means:

– persistent especially to the point of annoyance or intrusion, persevering, tireless,  pressing, urgent, overly persistent, tenacious.

  • So we are to be persistent, tenacious, tireless, pressing, urgent and overly persistent in our prayers.
  • We should pray without ceasing. If what we are praying about is important to us , we should continue praying until the answer comes.
  • The answer may not come the first time you pray, but continue praying tirelessly,  persevering into prayer.
  • Pray with ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17
  • That means always continue in prayer, never stop praying.
  • God is well pleased when we pray with confidence in Him.

Remember Psalms 27:14 says,

Wait on the Lord,  be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, wait I say on the Lord!
